Larkin & Lacey

Ever since President Donald Trump has been elected, people on the liberal side of the spectrum have been up in arms.

They claimed that he was bigoted and that it was going to be the end of the world if he was elected—citing frank, non-politically correct things that he said in serious debates and in somewhat-not-so-serious tweets.

Well, if there is anything that will make liberals think different of him, it is definitely not his pardoning of Sheriff Arpaio—“America’s Toughest Sheriff.” President Trump pardoned Arpaio in October of 2017, weeks before Arpaio was going to be sentenced. Arpaio was in trouble for making policies based on racially profiling minorities—specifically Latinos.

He was hard on illegal immigration and attacked the issue with a passion. Unfortunately, there is a very strong racial and ethnic component ingrained within the topic of immigration.

This topic cannot be avoided, and sometimes we come across the question of whether it is right or wrong to harass a certain population if, in fact, there really are higher proportions of illegal immigrants in that population. So, whether Sheriff Arpaio was doing something right or wrong is a debate that keeps going around in circles. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: http://james-larkin.com/press/

Some people take sides and think that one stance outweighs the other. Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey are two people who think like this. They take the opposite stance of Sheriff Arpaio and believe that it is more unethical than ethical to profile people in the local Hispanic populations.

To help local Hispanic people, they created an organization that would give money to local institutions geared toward the interests of Latinos. These organizations tend to various short and long term needs of immigrants who come to the United States over the Mexican border.

Sheriff Arpaio has been accused of a lot things such as corruption, the sexual abuse of women and the sexual abuse of children. Well, accusing someone of sexually abusing people, especially children, is a pretty serious thing. Of course, when hearing about such accusations, we must have some doubt, take the information with a grain of salt and try to figure out where these accusations came from and how true they may be.

Even if Sheriff Arpaio is guilty of a lot of corruption and weird stuff, we can’t just throw accusations around, believe them and not wonder where they actually came from—especially accusations of pedophilia. To be honest, any accusation must be seriously researched.
